Kate Mallatratt is a founder member of the International Canine Behaviourists and a member of Pet Professional Guild for force free training. She is author of Home Alone – and Happy! Essential Lifeskills for preventing separation anxiety in dogs and puppies, and is degree-level qualified in Canine Behaviour Management (Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management with distinction from Compass Education Ltd), and runs her behaviour and training business, Contemplating Canines, in East Devon, UK.
Kate is a highly experienced trainer and assessor (holding CAP 3 with distinction from Learning About Dogs) and specialises in errorless learning, a concept she incorporates into problem prevention, behaviour modification and enriching the home environment for the family dog. Kate teaches students world-wide through her online courses in advanced clicker training, concepts and tricks.
Kate has owned and trained dogs for 25 years, and is passionate about canine nutrition, having fed a raw diet to her dogs for many years. She takes a holistic approach to the welfare of her own dogs, using homeopathy and chiropractic to maintain health and wellbeing.
Kate writes monthly columns for East Devon’s One magazine, regular training articles for the Pet Remedy website and wrote the feature article in the November 2015 edition of Barks from the Guild produced by the Pet Professional Guild for force-free training.
