Directions by car

Leave the motorway at J63 A1M  Chester-Le-Street onto A167 for Durham. Cross first roundabout, spot Lumley Castle on the hill to the left and the cricket ground lights. Turn right at next roundabout (Ropery Lane) and cross the roundabout at the top, passing to the left of the Esso station. Turn right at the next roundabout signed car parks. Pass Kwik Fit and go through Pedestrian lights. The training centre is a left turn at the end of the terraced houses just before the mini roundabout (bottom of Station Road).

This route can be driven by following the ‘railway station’ symbol on the road signs. If using Sat Nav – DO NOT FOLLOW ONCE YOU LEAVE THE A1M – it will take you up Chester-Le-Street Front Street which is semi-pedestrianised and £40 fine if caught!

Drive time to the centre from the motorway 5 mins tops.

Car parking at the centre

The centre has limited parking available and full access for disabled people. Priority will be given to workshop attendees who are coming with dogs. Other car parks are within a couple of minutes’ walk of the venue.

Local car parking

First car park – turn right at pedestrian lights past Qwik Fit.

Second car park – go straight across the Station Road roundabout.

Both car parks are one minute’s walk from the venue.

Some limited car parking is available within Turnpark at the centre itself.

Directions by rail

Chester-Le-Street railway station is on the main East coast line, but limited trains actually stop here. The station is a one minute walk from the training centre. Durham station is one stop South and about 12-15 minutes by car; Newcastle station is one stop North and about 35-40 mins by car.

By plane

Newcastle airport is about 35-40 mins by road; Durham/Tees Valley airport about an hour.

By ferry

The ferry comes into North Shields from the Continent. It is about 40 mins from the Baindream Dog Training Centre by road, through the Tyne Tunnel.

All travel times are dependant on traffic conditions of course, and the times shown are for an average day.
